  • Dr. Larry Parsley

    Senior Pastor lparsley@vrbc.net

    Dr. Larry Parsley has been on staff with VRBC in the role of Senior Pastor since 1999. After graduating from Baylor University in 1984, he received his Master of Divinity from Southwestern Seminary in 1987, followed by his Ph.D. from Baylor University in 1996.

    Although he is known at the church as our beloved pastor, teacher, and friend in the community, you might need to ask Pastor Larry to show off his juggling skills after service on Sunday. You can find Larry walking the trails of Andy Brown Park on a weekly basis or over at Pappasito’s for a bite to eat. Larry lives in Coppell and has raised an entire clan of Parsley kids with wife Jaletta. Drew, Jack, Timothy, and Laurel round out the unofficial first family of VRBC.

  • John Hewlett

    Executive Pastor jhewlett@vrbc.net

    John joined the VRBC staff in 2001 after a six-year career in public accounting. Since then, he has served in various roles including Worship Pastor, Associate Pastor, and beginning in 2020, Executive Pastor.

    John holds a BBA and MBA from Baylor University, as well as a Masters in Worship Leadership from Dallas Baptist University. Outside of the office, you might find John running, hanging out with his wife Johanna and their kids Joshua and Grace, watching sports, or obsessively organizing something.

  • Amy Wilkins

    Associate Pastor awilkins@vrbc.net

    After a stay at Kings Cross Church in Tullahoma, Tennessee, Amy joined the VRBC staff in 2008. She has ministered in the areas of missions, serving, and outreach, and now as Associate Pastor.

    After graduating from Baylor University in 2002, Amy received her Master of Divinity from Truett Seminary in 2004. When she’s not in the office, you can find her riding bikes, camping, hiking or playing outdoors with her husband Chris and their kids Eraina, Karis, Sophia, and Porter.

  • Arthur Mendes

    Arthur is from Brazil where he worked as a lawyer and ombudsman and was a key leader in his church. For many years he felt God calling him to serve as a pastor but it took some time for him to realize what God had in mind. Once it became clear, he left his legal career behind to serve God 100% of the time. Arthur loves to be among people and has a passion to serve others. He’s happily married to Priscila, and they have two beautiful daughters, Luiza and Helena. They love to spend time together watching movies and TV shows.    

  • Corey Gummelt

    Corey is a 2013 graduate of East Texas Baptist University, where he studied Christian Ministry with an emphasis in Youth and Education. He obtained his Master of Arts in Theological Studies from Dallas Baptist University in 2017. Before joining VRBC in 2019, Corey served as the Student Pastor at Parkway Hills Baptist Church in Plano, Texas, for five years.

    Corey, a native of Waco, Texas, is happily married to his wife Tenley, whom he met while they were both camp counselors at Sky Ranch. Corey enjoys playing sports (a big fan of Baylor athletics), coffee, hosting game nights, and spending time with his wife and two dogs. His favorite show is “Parks and Rec”! They are expecting the arrival of baby Lathem in September.

  • Lindsay Stivers

    Student Ministries Intern lstivers@vrbc.net

    Lindsay “Lintern” Stivers  joined the staff as a youth intern in June 2020 after three summers of interning with the youth ministry. During her second summer, the seniors predicted that Lindsay would still be interning in 10 years, so she is proudly attempting to live out that prophesy. Lindsay has attended Abilene Christian University since 2014 and has a BA in Youth and Family Ministry, a BS in Psychology, a MS in Social Work, and is working on her MA in Christian Ministry.

    She is passionate about serving our middle and high school students and is a proud member of the #GalPals. Lindsay can most often be found jamming to “Hamilton,” quoting tv shows/movies, and wearing braids in her hair and Crocs on her feet. She is so excited to be back at VRBC!  

  • Julie McCord

    Student Ministry Program Coordinator and Staff Culture Coordinator jmccord@vrbc.net

    Julie has been a key component to the student ministry since 2008 where she brings tremendous organizational and planning skills to the ministry. Prior to that, she spent many years as National Account Executive at Levi Strauss & Co. Julie lives in Frisco with husband Andy and their two sons, Kyle and Scott, who fill her free time with sports, sports, and more sports.

  • Karen Simmang

    Children's Pastor ksimmang@vrbc.net

    Originally from Oklahoma, and after living in Germany for four years during the fall of the Berlin wall (yes, she has a piece of it), Karen made her way back to Texas and has been on staff at VRBC since January 2007. She is an integral part of making our children’s program what it is, coordinating and planning events and curriculum throughout the year. Outside of the office, Karen loves reading, crafts of all kinds, hanging out with family (including the dogs), and traveling

    She currently lives in Coppell with husband Clifford after raising sons CJ and Marc. You might also cross paths with her at Saltgrass, Anamia’s, or Macaroni Grill on any given night.

  • Priscila Mendes

    Associate Minister to Children pmendes@vrbc.net

    Originally from Brazil, Priscila has been on staff at VRBC since August 2018 where she serves as our Associate Minister to Children. She works closely with Karen Simmang to develop our children’s program, planning and coordinating events and curriculum for preschool and elementary school children throughout the year. Priscila lives in Coppell with her husband Arthur and their two daughters, Luiza and Helena, who fill her free time with crafts, last-minute non-rehearsed dance and singing performances, and family movie nights.

  • Sarah Waters

    Director, Weekday Preschool swaters@vrbc.net

    Sarah began her career at VRBC as a preschool teacher in 2000 and became Preschool Director in July 2008. She and husband Barry are longtime members of VRBC, joining in 1989. They have two sons, Jared and Bryan. She and Barry are from Arkansas, and both attended Southern Arkansas University. Outside the office, you cross paths with her at Hattie’s Restaurant or The Porch. She loves to take weekend trips to visit Jared at school in Fayetteville or attending sporting events in Coppell with friends.

  • Anna Hazelrigg

    Assistant Director, Weekday Preschool ahazelrigg@vrbc.net

    Originally from Lenoir, North Carolina, Anna joined the VRBC staff in July 2008. As Assistant Director of the Valley Ranch Weekday Preschool, she works closely with Sarah Waters to develop and coordinate the nearly two hundred kids that come in and out of our preschool every week. A Baylor graduate, she and husband Jeff are established Coppell residents with two children, Kirstin and Nick. If she’s not in the office, you can most assuredly find her at the movies, working on a scrapbook project, or a date night dinner at Benihana.

  • Matt Wiede

    Joining the staff in March 2013, Matt returns back to VRBC, where he and his family were part of the founding core member group of 1986. Home-grown in Valley Ranch, Matt attended Coppell High School and Baylor University. Now you can find him around Coppell with wife Kayla, and children Brynlee, Blake, and Brandt. However, anytime the opportunity presents itself, you’ll find Matt down in Waco at a Baylor basketball or football game, or perhaps reminiscing about those two 2nd place intramural dunk contest finishes of his glory years.

  • Rosie Quill

    Communications Director rquill@vrbc.net

    Rosie joined the VRBC Communications Department in 2017 after raising two daughters and volunteering in the Coppell community. With their children now grown and on their own, she and her husband Bruce are happy empty nesters. With a background in editing and publishing, Rosie manages and helps produce all church communication materials.

     

  • Donna Blankenship

    Donna holds the unique distinction of being the only staff member in her second tour of duty at VRBC. In her current role, Donna is serving as Business Administrator overseeing VRBC finances and facilities. Originally hailing from Dawson, Texas, and a graduate of Texas A&M University, Donna and husband Clay live in Coppell and have two grown sons. Donna enjoys spending time with her family, especially new granddaughter Brynn, and her friends.

  • Sheila Cole

    Finance Assistant scole@vrbc.net

    Sheila comes to VRBC with an extensive background in accounting. She’s a rare native Coppellian, graduating from Coppell High School in a class of sixty-six graduates. Her family, the Brocks, built many of the homes in Coppell. Sheila is married to Karl and has three daughters, Christy and twins Heather and Leah. She spends lots of time watching soccer, as the whole family plays.

  • Teresa Brundige

    Executive Staff Administrative Assistant and Office Manager tbrundige@vrbc.net

    Our longest-tenured staff member, Teresa joined the staff first as an interim Minister to Children in the 1990’s when the church was between children’s ministers, then she accepted the full-time position as Administrative Assistant to our Senior Pastor. More recently, Teresa has become the Office Manager and added an assistant role to the Executive Pastor. Teresa and husband, Darrell, have been members of VRBC since 1987 and have two married daughters, Leia and April, and four grandchildren. If Teresa isn’t working, you can find her having fun with grandkids Shelby, Landry, Riley and Audrey.

  • Jim Moffett

    Facilities Manager jmoffett@vrbc.net

    Jim came to VRBC after a long career in residential construction. Jim lives in Trophy Club and is married to Luann. They have two grown sons, Jim Jr. and Zachary, and two granddaughters. When not repairing things at the church that the other staff breaks, you can find Jim on the golf course, at the deer lease, or helping his elementary school-teaching wife work on her classroom.
