Day 4 : Karen McCord

How lucky we were to find a church home in our little community of Coppell 21 years ago!  We planted our roots at VRBC and have been growing ever since.  There have been many blessings over the years at VRBC, but I will focus on what is dearest to me: my children.

Watching my three kids grow up in our nursery, preschool, children’s ministries, Cool Choir Club, Refuge, and 86:12 has amounted to the firmest of foundations for them. Parenting aside, countless people over the years have poured their hearts and souls into nurturing and instilling into them the love of Christ and what it looks like to love and serve.  As a result, they have grown up into adults that emulate those very things.

Now we are empty nesters, but 4 years ago we befriended a family through the Christmas Store whose son was 10 at the time.  We started bringing him to church as a fourth grader.  He too became a part of Sunday mornings, Cool Choir Club and now is an active participant in our Refuge and 86:12 ministries.  He accepted Christ on his first 86:12 mission trip and is benefiting from the same servant leaders my own kids did. VRBC has been the conduit of our spiritual roots that keep growing and giving as we passionately follow Jesus together.
