  • Dr. Larry Parsley

    Senior Pastor lparsley@vrbc.net

    Dr. Larry Parsley has been on staff with VRBC in the role of Senior Pastor since 1999. After graduating from Baylor University in 1984, he received his Master of Divinity from Southwestern Seminary in 1987, followed by his Ph.D. from Baylor University in 1996.

    Although he is known at the church as our beloved pastor, teacher, and friend in the community, you might need to ask Pastor Larry to show off his juggling skills after service on Sunday. You can find Larry walking the trails of Andy Brown Park on a weekly basis or over at Pappasito’s for a bite to eat. Larry lives in Coppell and has raised an entire clan of Parsley kids with wife Jaletta. Drew, Jack, Timothy, and Laurel round out the unofficial first family of VRBC.

  • Jordan Schumacher

    Executive Pastor jordans@vrbc.net

    Jordan Schumacher joined the VRBC staff in 2016 and serves as Executive Pastor. Jordan oversees all ministry areas and leads the church in fulfilling its vision and mission of “inviting diverse and disconnected people to passionately follow Jesus together.”

    Jordan is a 2005 graduate of Texas A&M University. In 2008, he obtained his Masters of Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary where he is currently pursuing his Doctor of Ministry in Discipleship and Leadership Development. Jordan grew up in Alaska before moving to Katy, Texas, and comes to VRBC from Eagle Rock Baptist Church in Pasadena, California where he served as Executive Pastor.  Jordan resides in Coppell with wife Tonia and their three young children, Jude, Justus, and Julia. When he’s not at the church, he loves going to the park to play with his kids, working out, running, and reading.

  • John Hewlett

    Associate Pastor, Worship and Grow jhewlett@vrbc.net

    After a six year career in public accounting, John joined the staff of VRBC as worship pastor in 2001. In 2016, he took on leadership of our Grow ministries as well.  Originally from Austin, he now lives in Coppell with wife Johanna and two children, Joshua and Grace. John holds a BBA and MBA from Baylor University, as well as a MA in Worship Leadership from DBU. He is passionate about creating opportunities for people of all ages to worship God and grow to be more like Jesus. Outside of the office, you’ll catch John running, hanging out with his family, watching sports, or obsessively organizing something.

  • Amy Wilkins

    Minister of Community & Global Missions awilkins@vrbc.net

    After a stay at Kings Cross Church in Tullahoma, Tennessee, Amy joined the VRBC staff in 2008. As Minister of Community & Global Missions, she equips the congregation to effectively reach our local community and serve alongside worldwide missions partners. When she’s not in the office, you can find her in the mission field or outside playing with her daughters Eraina, Karis, and Sophia and son Porter.

  • Rich Roush

    Rich joined VRBC as Minister to Students from First Baptist Church Woodway in Waco where he trained as a Middle School Minister under longtime Youth Minister, Bob Johns. He is a proud graduate of Baylor University (undergrad and seminary) and can often be found typing “Baylor sports news” into Google when he’s not hanging out with wife Megan, his students, or his two young children, Olivia and Griffin.

  • Karen Simmang

    Minister to Children ksimmang@vrbc.net

    Originally from Oklahoma, and after living in Germany for four years during the fall of the Berlin wall (yes, she has a piece of it), Karen made her way back to Texas and has been on staff at VRBC since January 2007. She is an integral part of making our children’s program what it is, coordinating and planning events and curriculum throughout the year. Outside of the office, Karen loves to travel and practice her photography. She currently lives in Coppell with husband Clifford after raising sons CJ and Marc. You might also cross paths with her at Saltgrass, Anamia’s, or Macaroni Grill on any given night.

  • Jason Thomas

    Associate Minister of Worship jthomas@vrbc.net

    On staff since 2005, Jason brings an added dimension of talent and expertise to our Sunday morning worship and weekday youth gatherings, as well as a wealth of knowledge creating our video and audio media for the church. Although in another life, he claims he would love to have been a racecar driver, you can currently find Jason around town spending time with wife Sara, son Ryker, and daughters Reese and Robyn. Jason is also up for a Cowboys game or searching out the best undiscovered pizza place in the area. While he was born and raised in Big D, his parents are originally from Kerala, India.

  • Sarah Waters

    Director, Weekday Preschool swaters@vrbc.net

    Sarah began her career at VRBC as a preschool teacher in 2000 and became Preschool Director in July 2008. She and husband Barry are longtime members of VRBC, joining in 1989. They have two sons, Jared and Bryan. She and Barry are from Arkansas, and both attended Southern Arkansas University. Outside the office, you cross paths with her at Hattie’s Restaurant or The Porch. She loves to take weekend trips to visit Jared at school in Fayetteville or attending sporting events in Coppell with friends.

  • Anna Hazelrigg

    Assistant Director, Weekday Preschool ahazelrigg@vrbc.net

    Originally from Lenoir, North Carolina, Anna joined the VRBC staff in July 2008. As Assistant Director of the Valley Ranch Weekday Preschool, she works closely with Sarah Waters to develop and coordinate the nearly two hundred kids that come in and out of our preschool every week. A Baylor graduate, she and husband Jeff are established Coppell residents with two children, Kirstin and Nick. If she’s not in the office, you can most assuredly find her at the movies, working on a scrapbook project, or a date night dinner at Benihana.

  • Matt Wiede

    Joining the staff in March 2013, Matt returns back to VRBC, where he and his family were part of the founding core member group of 1986. Matt now handles all of the communications and marketing functions of the church. Home-grown in Valley Ranch, Matt attended Coppell High School and Baylor University. Now you can find him around Coppell with wife Kayla, and children Brynlee, Blake, and Brandt. However, anytime the opportunity presents itself, you’ll find Matt down in Waco at a Baylor basketball or football game, or perhaps reminiscing about those two 2nd place intramural dunk contest finishes of his glory years.

  • Donna Blankenship

    Donna holds the unique distinction of being the only staff member in her second tour of duty at VRBC. In her current role, Donna is serving as Business Administrator overseeing VRBC finances and facilities. Originally hailing from Dawson, Texas, and a graduate of Texas A&M University, Donna and husband Clay live in Coppell and have two grown sons. Donna enjoys spending time with her family, especially new granddaughter Brynn, and her friends.

  • Teresa Brundige

    Executive Staff Administrative Assistant and Office Manager tbrundige@vrbc.net

    Our longest tenured staff member, Teresa joined the staff first as an interim Minister to Children in the 90’s when we were between children’s ministers, then accepted the full-time position as Administrative Assistant to our Senior Pastor. More recently, Teresa has added an assisting role in our missions ministry. Teresa and husband, Darrell, have been members of VRBC since 1987 and have two married daughters, Leia and April, and four grandchildren. If Teresa isn’t working, you can find her having fun with grandkids Shelby, Landry, Riley and Audrey.

  • Julie McCord

    Student Ministry Program Coordinator and Staff Culture Specialist jmccord@vrbc.net

    Julie has been a key component to the student ministry since 2008 where she brings tremendous organizational and planning skills to the ministry. Prior to that, she spent many years as National Account Executive at Levi Strauss & Co. Julie lives in Frisco with husband Andy and their two sons, Kyle and Scott, who fill her free time with sports, sports, and more sports.

  • Sheila Cole

    Sheila comes to VRBC with an extensive background in accounting. She’s a rare native Coppellian, graduating from Coppell High School in a class of sixty-six graduates. Her family, the Brocks, built many of the homes in Coppell. Sheila is married to Karl and has three daughters, Christy and twins Heather and Leah. She spends lots of time watching soccer, as the whole family plays.

  • Tracey Garman

    Communications Assistant tgarman@vrbc.net

    Tracey  joined the Communications Department in 2014 after retiring from her law practice. She now employs her writing and editing skills to help draft the church’s weekly eNews, update the church website, and proof church communications. Tracey has three grown children and two grandchildren. She and her husband Van reside in Coppell.

  • Rosie Quill

    Design and Production Assistant rquill@vrbc.net

    Rosie joined the VRBC Communications Department in 2017 after raising two daughters and volunteering in the Coppell community. With their children now grown and on their own, she and her husband Bruce are happy empty nesters. With a background in editing and publishing, Rosie will help prepare church communication materials for print and distribution.

     

  • Arthur Mendes

    Arthur serves as VRBC’s Serve Assistant and is pursuing a graduate degree at Dallas Baptist University. Arthur is from Brazil where he worked as a lawyer and an ombudsman and was a key leader in his church. Arthur and his wife Priscila have two daughters, Luiza and Helena.

  • Kara Gabbert

    Children's Ministry Intern kgabbert@vrbc.net

    Kara is a 2016 graduate from Dallas Baptist University, where she earned a degree in Interdisciplinary Education and Reading and worked in a cultural program with international students. Kara made the decision to go into ministry early in elementary school. She grew up in Flower Mound and Coppell Bible Fellowship where she found her passion for God’s Word, Scripture memorization, and teaching kids.  In her free time you can find her memorizing Scripture or goofing off with siblings.

  • Jim Moffett

    Jim came to VRBC after a long career in residential construction. Jim lives in Trophy Club and is married to Luann. They have two grown sons, Jim Jr. and Zachary, and two granddaughters. When not repairing things at the church that the other staff breaks, you can find Jim on the golf course, at the deer lease, or helping his elementary school-teaching wife work on her classroom.

  • Virginia Robb

    Virginia was born in Mexico and is a tremendous help with Spanish translation at the front desk and for the Christmas Store. She is married to Horace and has two married daughters, Susie and Victoria. Her favorite thing to do is hang with her family, especially grandson Adam.

  • Margaret Eck

    Receptionist meck@vrbc.net

    Margaret serves as a receptionist in our front office and also works as a teaching assistant in our preschool. She and her husband Bill have three children and have enjoyed living in Coppell for the past five years. Margaret enjoys taking long walks with her golden retriever, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
