  • Dr. Larry Parsley

    Senior Pastor

    Dr. Larry Parsley has been on staff with VRBC in the role of Senior Pastor since 1999. After graduating from Baylor University in 1984, he received his Master of Divinity from Southwestern Seminary in 1987, followed by his Ph.D. from Baylor University in 1996.

    Although he is known at the church as our beloved pastor, teacher, and friend in the community, you might need to ask Pastor Larry to show off his juggling skills after service on Sunday. You can find Larry walking the trails of Andy Brown Park on a weekly basis or over at Pappasito’s for a bite to eat. Larry lives in Coppell and has raised an entire clan of Parsley kids with wife Jaletta. Drew, Jack, Timothy, and Laurel round out the unofficial first family of VRBC.

  • John Hewlett

    Associate Pastor, Worship & Grow

    After a six year career in public accounting, John joined the staff of VRBC as worship pastor in 2001. In 2016, he took on leadership of our Grow ministries as well.  Originally from Austin, he now lives in Coppell with wife Johanna and two children, Joshua and Grace. John holds a BBA and MBA from Baylor University, as well as a MA in Worship Leadership from DBU. He is passionate about creating opportunities for people of all ages to worship God and grow to be more like Jesus. Outside of the office, you’ll catch John running, hanging out with his family, watching sports, or obsessively organizing something.

  • Amy Wilkins

    Pastor of Serve & Invite

    After a stay at Kings Cross Church in Tullahoma, Tennessee, Amy joined the VRBC staff in 2008. As Pastor of Serve & Invite, she equips the congregation to effectively reach our local community and serve alongside worldwide missions partners. When she’s not in the office, you can find her in the mission field or outside playing with her daughters Eraina, Karis, and Sophia and her son Porter.

  • Arthur Mendes

    Serve & Invite Intern

    Arthur serves as our Serve and Invite Intern while pursuing a graduate degree at Dallas Baptist University. Arthur is from Brazil where he worked as a lawyer and an ombudsman and was a key leader in his church. Arthur and his wife Priscila have two daughters, Luiza and Helena.

  • Trent Richardson

    Student Ministries Intern

    Trent serves as our Student Ministries Intern where he works primarily with our middle school students. Trent moved to the Dallas area last year from Willis (north of Houston), Texas, to begin his seminary training. Upon finishing seminary, he hopes to be a full-time student pastor.  Trent has a huge heart for all people (especially teenagers) and is our staff expert on the history of Marvel Comics superhero characters.

  • Julie McCord

    Student Ministry Program Coordinator and Staff Culture Coordinator

    Julie has been a key component to the student ministry since 2008 where she brings tremendous organizational and planning skills to the ministry. Prior to that, she spent many years as National Account Executive at Levi Strauss & Co. Julie lives in Frisco with husband Andy and their two sons, Kyle and Scott, who fill her free time with sports, sports, and more sports.

  • Karen Simmang

    Minister to Children

    Originally from Oklahoma, and after living in Germany for four years during the fall of the Berlin wall (yes, she has a piece of it), Karen made her way back to Texas and has been on staff at VRBC since January 2007. She is an integral part of making our children’s program what it is, coordinating and planning events and curriculum throughout the year. Outside of the office, Karen loves to travel and practice her photography. She currently lives in Coppell with husband Clifford after raising sons CJ and Marc. You might also cross paths with her at Saltgrass, Anamia’s, or Macaroni Grill on any given night.

  • Sarah Waters

    Director, Weekday Preschool

    Sarah began her career at VRBC as a preschool teacher in 2000 and became Preschool Director in July 2008. She and husband Barry are longtime members of VRBC, joining in 1989. They have two sons, Jared and Bryan. She and Barry are from Arkansas, and both attended Southern Arkansas University. Outside the office, you cross paths with her at Hattie’s Restaurant or The Porch. She loves to take weekend trips to visit Jared at school in Fayetteville or attending sporting events in Coppell with friends.

  • Anna Hazelrigg

    Assistant Director, Weekday Preschool

    Originally from Lenoir, North Carolina, Anna joined the VRBC staff in July 2008. As Assistant Director of the Valley Ranch Weekday Preschool, she works closely with Sarah Waters to develop and coordinate the nearly two hundred kids that come in and out of our preschool every week. A Baylor graduate, she and husband Jeff are established Coppell residents with two children, Kirstin and Nick. If she’s not in the office, you can most assuredly find her at the movies, working on a scrapbook project, or a date night dinner at Benihana.

  • Matt Wiede

    Director of Communications

    Joining the staff in March 2013, Matt returns back to VRBC, where he and his family were part of the founding core member group of 1986. Matt now handles all of the communications and marketing functions of the church. Home-grown in Valley Ranch, Matt attended Coppell High School and Baylor University. Now you can find him around Coppell with wife Kayla, and children Brynlee, Blake, and Brandt. However, anytime the opportunity presents itself, you’ll find Matt down in Waco at a Baylor basketball or football game, or perhaps reminiscing about those two 2nd place intramural dunk contest finishes of his glory years.

  • Rosie Quill

    Design and Production Assistant

    Rosie joined the VRBC Communications Department in 2017 after raising two daughters and volunteering in the Coppell community. With their children now grown and on their own, she and her husband Bruce are happy empty nesters. With a background in editing and publishing, Rosie will help prepare church communication materials for print and distribution.


  • Donna Blankenship

    Business Administrator

    Donna holds the unique distinction of being the only staff member in her second tour of duty at VRBC. In her current role, Donna is serving as Business Administrator overseeing VRBC finances and facilities. Originally hailing from Dawson, Texas, and a graduate of Texas A&M University, Donna and husband Clay live in Coppell and have two grown sons. Donna enjoys spending time with her family, especially new granddaughter Brynn, and her friends.

  • Sheila Cole

    Finance Assistant

    Sheila comes to VRBC with an extensive background in accounting. She’s a rare native Coppellian, graduating from Coppell High School in a class of sixty-six graduates. Her family, the Brocks, built many of the homes in Coppell. Sheila is married to Karl and has three daughters, Christy and twins Heather and Leah. She spends lots of time watching soccer, as the whole family plays.

  • Teresa Brundige

    Executive Staff Administrative Assistant and Office Manager

    Our longest-tenured staff member, Teresa joined the staff first as an interim Minister to Children in the 1990’s when the church was between children’s ministers, then she accepted the full-time position as Administrative Assistant to our Senior Pastor. More recently, Teresa has become the Office Manager and added an assistant role to the Executive Pastor. Teresa and husband, Darrell, have been members of VRBC since 1987 and have two married daughters, Leia and April, and four grandchildren. If Teresa isn’t working, you can find her having fun with grandkids Shelby, Landry, Riley and Audrey.

  • Jim Moffett

    Facilities Manager

    Jim came to VRBC after a long career in residential construction. Jim lives in Trophy Club and is married to Luann. They have two grown sons, Jim Jr. and Zachary, and two granddaughters. When not repairing things at the church that the other staff breaks, you can find Jim on the golf course, at the deer lease, or helping his elementary school-teaching wife work on her classroom.
